Andy Clarke - Stuff and Nonsense Ltd
Jason Santa Maria, Creative Dir - Happy Cog Studios

This panel was entertaining and funny, but difficult to capture in note form. When the podcast comes out I'll link to it.

Rough Design Notes:

Snatch
----------

quick job, smash and grab, mugging

teams that have made this into a way of life - getting real

not easy to get these jobs

Sting
--------

the short con con - elaborate planning

draw someone else into your confidence

hustle, misdirection, sleight of hand

choose your mark carefully; satisfying their motivation

you have to be competely confident in what you're trying to do.

Heist
-------

The long con - get remembered by your peers, and the web dev community, that go down in history

do your homework - research. you have to know everything about the structure, and about the people you are working with - including the people who make the project difficult.

scenario based training, diagrams, mockups, training your team.

Start - put a crew together; people with specific skills - technical abilities for all aspects of the job.

Planning for everything - appropriate meeting/hideout (basecamp) - document all aspects of the job. communication - basecamp is a great location

pulling off the job - what happens when the job goes wrong? contingency plans, and the getaway.

dodging bullets - how to be agile and fix the problems

when to cut your losses and get out of a job - know that you need to move on to other jobs.

The payoff - doing it for the money; to achieve the payoff.

no loose ends.
