worst nightmares I've ever had

I'm not sure whether it's the heart surgery or the Vicodin I'm on, or some terrible combination of both, but I just had two of the most horrible nightmares I've ever had. Something is seriously wrong. There is no way I'm going to sleep again tonight.

your brain probably also has a lot to process. i'm sorry that it's choosing to process in such a distressing way, however! that's awful.

Yeesh, poor Steph! A couple years ago, I was as stressed as I've ever been (both at work and on the home front) and had the worst two nightmares ever on two sequential nights. First night, I dreamt I was sleeping (so it was one of those weird head trip dreams), and was woken up by the phone ringing - my Mom called and told me my Brother had died. Next night, I dreamed *I* died! Good Grief!

Glad you're home, hope your dreams sweeten up soon (who am I to disagree?)

Vicodin can do that to you under stressful circumstances, and you've had lots of stress of the purely physical kind of late.

About all you can do is grit your teeth (don't grind them) and believe that it gets better. Because it does.

It's possible that it's also the Toporol beta-blocker I'm on that's causing the dreams, instead of or in addition to the Vicodin. I went on it the day before I came out of the hospital, whereas I'd been on the vicodin for a couple days with no nightmares in the hospital. I'm also finding more google listings of nightmares caused by Toporol than by Vicodin.

Either way, I'm trying to get my doctor to adjust or advise on my medicine, but they and the nurses seem to be out today, so I haven't got a call back.
