honesty is the best policy

I like the phrase "honesty is the best policy." It sort of implies that you've tried other policies, and realized they didn't work. It's not one of those "because I said so" kind of instructions. It's like the voice of experience talking. Sort of : "I've been a big liar, but it really wasn't all it's cracked up to be."
